Retinol, properly

Most people fail at retinol for the same three reasons.

By Danika Benny ·

Too much, too soon. Retinol is a signal, not a scrub. Two nights a week for a fortnight, then three, then nightly. Skin that is peeling is not improving faster.

No SPF. Retinol thins the stratum corneum before it thickens the dermis. Without daily SPF you are undoing the work and adding pigment.

Stopping at week six. The visible change happens between weeks eight and twelve. Almost everyone who says retinol did nothing stopped before it started.
