The treatment
What it does
PRP started its journey in the 1970s inside hospital settings, originally used to support wound healing and recovery. By the early 2000s, orthopaedic teams were using it to repair tendons and muscle tissue. Dermatology followed soon after, recognising how those same growth factors could influence collagen, texture, and overall skin behaviour.
The concept is simple: those platelets carry signals that tell the tissue to repair, rebuild, and become more active. Growth factors are most concentrated where cellular activity naturally slows in our 30s and beyond.
